Matthew 14:17-18 ESV
17 They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.” 18 And he said, “Bring them here to me.”
I am reminded that four is the number of earth. Adding one, the number of God, makes five. God comes to us and becomes the bread of life. The Devine and only Son of God is joined with creation.
The two fish remind me of the Jews and Gentiles, two representing the difference between the two, yet they swim in the same sea.
Jesus blesses them, lifting them to heaven. The loaves are multiplied until the crowd is full.
Jesus said something similar concerning little children.
Let them come to me.
