Genesis 1:14 HCBS
14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night. They will serve as signs for festivals and for days and years.
Most translations state the purpose of the lights are to serve as signs for seasons. This translation offers the word festivals. This may be closer to the intended thought when one considers the Hebrew definition below.
God has a plan, and He has a message.
* mo-ade', mo-ade', mo-aw-daw' * From H3259; properly an appointment, that is, a fixed time or season; specifically a festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an assembly (as convened for a definite purpose); technically the congregation; by extension, the place of meeting; also a signal (as appointed beforehand): - appointed (sign, time), (place of, solemn) assembly, congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed, due) season, solemn (-ity), synagogue, (set) time (appointed).
