Job 2:1-2 ESV
1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.”
The sons of God came before God, and Satan came as well. God asks Satan where has he been? Satan had been out of God's presence, on earth.
When God gave the land to Abraham, He told Abraham to walk in the land. This implies the promise of ownership and dominion.
In the promise to Abraham we have a picture of God re-establishing the Garden. His work of a new creation and the restoration of the earth continues.
Satan brought the world down to his level, fallen, when he successfully deceived Adam and Eve.
Satan still works against God, but he has been defeated.
There will come a day when the Lord will place His feet on the mountains of the earth and Satan will no longer slither in the land.
