Galatians 5:1 ESV
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
This may seem to be a statement of the obvious, but freedom can be elusive and fleeting to many. The natural man adapts to the yoke of slavery and it can become natural. Newly freed from Egypt, the Israelites began to think fondly of that life. A life in slavery is familiar and predictable.
Unbound, we can stand erect and breathe the air of freedom as we are meant, though it can be a disconcerting experience leaving the gravity of the known.
We must take care not to be enslaved again. We cannot be overcome and forced back to those chains that bound us, but we can be deceived. If we keep our eyes on Christ, our fate is not to be deceived. He will lead us to the green pasture of His rest. He is the word of truth in a babbling world.
