Galatians 5:2-6 ESV
Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
Is it possible to believe in Christ then fall away? Paul seems to think so.
"You are severed from Christ". "you have fallen away from grace".
Turning away from Christ is possible, but it is a choice we alone make. No one can force us and no one can snatch us from His hand. He is faithful. He is faithful to lead us to the house of His Father.
He gives us the freedom by His grace to remain in that grace. Everything in the Garden was good for Adam except the one fruit. Everything is good in our world for those who lay down the forbidden fruit passed down through the years by our ancestors.
We can only keep His word by faith. In fact, it is the only thing that counts with God.
