Romans 8:13-14 ESV
For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
We live in the same body of flesh as believers, though we are led by the Spirit. Made alive in the Spirit means that that the deeds of the body, the curse and consequence of sin, have been put to death. The body remains.
The law of the Spirit operates on the other side of that death. Righteousness requires death to disobedience. Our baptism signifies that death and the fulfillment of that requirement by our Lord and Savior. We are raised into life by the Spirit of God and follow the Spirit as sons of God.
