Will Do So Until - 2 Thessalonians 2:7

2 Thessalonians 2:7 ESV

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.

It could be worse. That may be hard for some to believe, but there it is.

Jesus came down from heaven and bound the hands of the strong man who some know as Satan. Jesus left bodily and returned as the Holy Spirit given to each believer, freeing each captive from the strong man of death to rise into the kingdom of heaven behind Jesus in His ascension.

The light of the the world will remain in the world until the Bride of Christ is removed and called to be with Christ. This is referred to Scripture as the darkening of the sun and the moon no longer giving it's light. It is this darkness into which Satan is released for a little while.

Woe to those who remain on earth during this time of wrath.

Revelation 20:1-3
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
