The Redemption - Romans 8:22-23

Romans 8:22-23. ESV

For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

The pains of childbirth referenced here are those related to being reborn from above. The birth and passion of Jesus has opened the way at last to the call of divine destiny. We have entered the presence of God because He has entered us in the form of the Holy Spirit. Now we groan in anticipation for the consummation of the promise of God.

With childbirth of spirit behind us, we now await for the redemption of our bodies to be reborn into immortal bodies to unite with our immortal souls.

The promise has come and is to come.
