To Futility - Romans 8:20-21

Romans 8:20-21 ESV

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

The apex of creation is man in the exact image of God. Adam was chosen and created to be and implement this crowning achievement. He was not successful.

His disobedience caused the curse of bondage and corruption, forcing his expulsion from the presence of God. At first glance it might seem that God's plan might have gone awry until one remembers that Jesus was anointed before the foundation of the world to sacrifice His life for us.

The futility of creation will be overcome through the power of God and for His glory. We are participating in that glory as children of God as we rise from the futility of our earth into the kingdom of heaven.
