Bridegroom Of Blood - Exodus 4:24-26

Exodus 4:24-26 ESV

At a lodging place on the way the Lord met him and sought to put him to death. Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son's foreskin and touched Moses' feet with it and said, “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me!” So he let him alone. It was then that she said, “A bridegroom of blood,” because of the circumcision.

Moses was a great man of God, but he appeared to share with us in the weakness of man. This account might serve to point to the need and coming of our Savior.

Jesus may be thought of as a bridegroom of blood when he shed his own blood for us, the bride of Christ. We wash in his blood and our sin is removed.

We take the foreskin of our hearts and lay it at the feet of Jesus.  The true circumcision of Christ lies in the heart of the believer. It is when we take the word to heart that the circumcision takes place.
