Predestined - Romans 8:29-30

Romans 8:29-30 ESV predestined

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

How many of us did God know before hand? Many believe that God did not foresee all the people that would be born into the world. When God says that He so loved the world that He gave His only Son, they think what He really means is that He so loved only a part of the world and doesn't care for the rest. A small number of mankind is enough to be saved for His purposes and the rest is just extra that has no hope or merit. They would say they are predestined for salvation and everyone else will die.

Jesus tells us something else.

Mark 16:15-16

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

It appears we have a choice according to the Lord.

Jesus says again:

John 3:14-15

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

He does not limit salvation to a few, but to whoever.

Again the Lord says:

John 3:16-18

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

So what is meant by "whoever?"

From Dictionary.com

pronoun;, possessive whosever; objectivewhomever.

1.

whatever person; anyone that:

Whoever did it should be proud. Ask whoever isthere. Tell it to whomever you like.

2.

no matter who

I won't do it, whoever asks.

What has been predestined is the way for us to be conformed to the image of His only Son, who was chosen before the foundation of the world to bring forth the body of Christ. Who can elect to take this predestined path?

WHOEVER

It is the wish of God that no man die.

Ezekiel 33:11

Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?

Come one, come all. Whoever comes will not be turned away.
