Begotten - Psalms 2:7-9

Psalms 2:7-9 ESV 

I will tell of the decree:

The Lord said to me, “You are my Son;

today I have begotten you.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,

and the ends of the earth your possession.

You shall break them with a rod of iron

and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.”

Jesus is the begotten Son of God, meaning He was born from above. He existed in the Godhead before He was born as a Son of Man. 

We who place our faith in the Son of God are born from above. We have become sons of God. We did not exist in the Godhead before we were born, but we have become one with the Godhead as we have become one with Christ.

We are the begotten of the begotten.
