Woe - Luke 6:24-26

Luke 6:24-26 ESV

“But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.

“Woe to you who are full now, for you shall be hungry.

“Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.

“Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.

Woe to those who are unable to see past the riches of the world to the true riches in heaven.

Woe to those who are satisfied with the fare of the world that they do not hunger after the things of God.

Woe to those who laugh with the world in its darkness rather than pursuing the light of God. Their laughter will turn to weeping. Their mirth will turn to mourning.

Woe to those who are honored by the world, but not by God. The first will burn in the refining fire of the Lord, leaving that which is honored by God as a lasting work.
