It Would Be Good - John 18:12-14

John 18:12-14 ESV

So the band of soldiers and their captain and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound him. First they led him to Annas, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people.

Caiaphas had told them it would be good that one man should die for the people. He meant it for evil, but God would take that event of sacrifice to bestow the most precious gift of life for all people. God created good out of the bad.

All things work for the good of those who love the Lord. All things are not good, but the Lord is always good and always with us. It is His presence and help that provides the context for all good things, even to the giving of eternal life. Our life on earth provides the context and opportunity to find God. We begin in darkness that we might find the light. It is always dark before the dawning of the light. This is true of life in general. He can create something good out of every life and circumstance if we place our trust in Him.
