Shall Become One Ephesians 5:28-32

Ephesians 5:28-32 ESV

In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

A mystery in Scripture is something hidden from the eyes of the world. Believers have entered the mystery of Christ. This contains a teaching of importance in the word of God.

The bride of Christ is one flesh in the body of Christ. We are joined with Him and each other in a way that is only possible in and through the divine.

The union of husband and wife serves as a parable, a foreshadowing of what of what is happening and what is to come. He has taken our flesh to nourish and cherish as His own. We take His Spirit to nourish and cherish as our own. We are one.
