Eternal Sin - Mark 3:28-30

Mark 3:28-30 NASB
“ Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin” — because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

So what does it say of the eternal sin that won't be forgiven? It is speaking against the Holy Spirit, saying He is unclean or impure or stained in some way. The Holy Spirit is God Himself. All that is God applies to the Holy Spirit.

A rejection of God is a rejection of life and whoever does so never has the forgiveness of God and the comfort of His Spirit.

In Luke we see that speaking against the Son of Man does not have the same weight of sin that speaking against the Holy Spirit carries. Perhaps this is the case because Jesus entered humanity and became our sin. The Holy Spirit is untouched by that stain.

1 John 5:16-17
If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

Hebrews 6:4-6
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

Luke 12:10-12
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him. When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”
