Jesus came to earth because we were not acceptable to God. God could not bear our presence nor could we bear His, but He did not leave us in that place. In love, He sent His Son that we would become acceptable and be with Him. He came to change us and to offer salvation. His requirement was that we believe and repent, that we turn from our ways to His. If we do not turn toward Him we cannot hope to enter His house.
