But Now - Acts 17:29-31

Acts 17:29-31 ESV

Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”

The art and imagination of man is unable to capture and contain the infinite God. This is the apex of man’s ignorance which distracts from the knowledge of the true God. Paul says that ignorance was overlooked until now.

The time was right for the truth to be revealed. Mankind has reached the age of accountability. The ignorance of a child protected us from the judgement of a righteous God, but now the mystery and salvation of God has been revealed. Mankind is old enough to choose between life in Christ or the fruit that leads to death. The question now becomes will we have the wisdom to make the right choice.
