A Witness - John 1:6-8

John 1:6-8 ESV

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.

John was the greatest prophet of his people, but the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Why?

Israel bore witness to the light, but was not the light. John was a prophet of those who would bear the law which would enable the world to understand sin and lead to repentance. Jesus is the light of the world and everything prior to His coming paved the way for His arrival.

Those in the body of Christ become the children of light and the sons and daughters of God. We are part of God’s ultimate will for mankind. There will be a remnant He will call His own and they shall be known as the Bride of Christ.

The many come from the one seed and grow into the mighty tree of life.
