A Human Being - John 16:19-21

John 16:19-21 ESV

Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, “Is this what you are asking yourselves, what I meant by saying, ‘A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me’? Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.

Jesus was the first human being made in the image of God. He was born from above and delivered into the world. The divine spark of life would enter the darkness of man and would allow mankind to choose that life. This is the true human being. The word “being” captures the essence of a person who has entered the fullness of life. Fullness of life is a choice. Nothing need be done for something less.

God chose our darkness that we might choose His light.

Our life has begun in the womb of mankind, but when the childbirth of the reborn is complete, the children of God will be revealed. The anguish and tribulations will be behind us, lying in the dust of the world that has been shaken from our feet.
