Of All Living - Genesis 3:20

Genesis 3:20 ESV
The man called his wife's name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.

Genesis 4:1
Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord.”

Why is Eve the mother of all living? She was fully alive before dying in her disobedience. She did not spiritually die until she gave the picked fruit to Adam who also ate. They did not die until both had consumed the fruit. That's when their eyes were opened to the evil of fallen man. The reason could be that they were of one flesh and bone joined by God.

She bore a man with the help of God. Adam and Eve would bear a man from whom the truly living would come, a man that would call Himself the Son of Man, begotten of God and born to another woman descended from Eve.

In Genesis Adam was formed from the dust of the earth. Eve was taken and formed from Adam's body. The Son of God, Jesus, enters our dusty life and brings the divine life to man.

Adam entered a deep sleep for God to fashion woman. Jesus entered death, but rose again. The risen body of Christ is being fashioned into the Bride of Christ. We are betrothed to Him and await the celebration of the wedding feast to come.
