Who Are My Brothers? - Matthew 12:46-50

Mat 12:46-50 ESV
Jesus' Mother and Brothers While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Jesus changes our perspective of family from the kingdom standpoint. Our family become those who obey God. This is what we do when we follow Jesus. We become the children of God.

We do not forsake our earthly family, but love in a more complete way with the love of the Father, for we all share the same Father.

Bloodlines are no longer important, for we all share the same blood of forgiveness.

The old things give way to the new.
