Gen 3:22 ESV
Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—”
When God created heaven and earth it was all good. God said so. Evil was not part of Adam's knowledge or experience. God knew evil because He knows all things. This verse confirms that notion.
God would have spared Adam the pain and sorrow that is part of a fallen world had he been faithful in observing God's word.
Now Adam had his eyes opened to the darkness of disobedience. This was not God's will for mankind, but man had reached out contrary to God's will. God would not allow mankind to live forever in a fallen state. Adam would have to leave God's presence, though God would provide way for us to return. The rest of the Bible gives us an account of that plan unfolding. This is the story of the giving light to a dark earth and the creation of the sons of God.
