A Table Before Me

Exodus 31:18 NASB
18 And He gave to Moses, when He had ceased communing with him on Mount Sinai, the two tables of the Testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

Several translation render tables instead of tablets where the Testimony is recorded. It implies a polished, luminous surface.

Psalm 23 speaks of the Lord preparing a table in the midst of our enemies.  In the shadows of death, light and peace is given.
This portends the witness of Israel and the witness of Christ. The first tables or tablets were broken, caused by disobedience.  God would write His commands on the heart of every believer.
