Matthew 4:10-11 (NASB)
10 Then Jesus said* to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only .' "
11 Then the devil left* Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.
Jesus answers temptation with His knowledge of God’s will as revealed in scripture. The Holy Spirit had just descended upon Him after His baptism. He was able to tell Satan to go, and he left. He didn’t say no. He went further than that; He said go, begone, away with you. Jesus prevailed over Satan. He was not drawn away from His purpose or who He was, nor weakened to the point of giving in to His own desire. The devil had to turn away.
That same Spirit is within us. We have the power and authority of the risen Son because we have been raised up with Him. He is with us and if He is, who can be against us?
Don’t just say no, say Go!
In the name of Jesus.
