Luke 12:49-51 ESV
“I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.
Jesus received the Holy Spirit as a dove of peace. His disciples would receive the Spirit as tongues of fire. This is the fire Jesus wished was already kindled. It will continue the separation and division that comes about when the light shines in the darkness. It is the word entering our lives or rejected.
