Exodus 16:4-5 ESV
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not. On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily.”
And so bread rained from heaven each day to feed the Israelites as they journeyed in the wilderness. God would test and teach them obedience and to look to Him for their needs.
The Lord does the same with the body of Christ. Jesus taught us to pray for our “daily bread.” We learn to depend on Him as we travel our own wilderness journey. We walk, not in the law, but led by the Spirit and His word. We are on our way, but walk we must.
Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread,
