Genesis 17:9-10 ESV
And God said to Abraham, “As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations. This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
Now God tells Abraham what he must do as acknowledging the relationship, the agreement with the Lord. The covenant includes Abraham and his offspring. It is an outward sign in their flesh of a union between them and the Lord, a symbol and reminder of the covenant.
His offspring will enter the same covenant as Abraham, which is based on faith, that is trust in the Lord.
He is faithful and His love endures forever.
