Offense Of The Cross - Galatians 5:11

Galatians 5:11 ESV
But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

Circumcision of the flesh is a sign of the old covenant. Preaching circumcision abandons and denies the work of Christ. Mercy and grace are the offenses of the cross. There is no room for these in the economy of works in which salvation rests and depends on the individual. There is no room for life except in the house of the Lord.

The new covenant is based on the work of Christ on the cross. He is the one who performs this work. Taking offense at the cross means favoring death over life, for Christ overcame death and the world through His work of the cross, bringing those who would follow to life.
