1 John 5:6-12 ESV
This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
God has provided the the testimony of His Son through the birth and death and life as the Son of Man. Jesus came to us through the water of our humanity and His blood was shed on our behalf. Through the water of repentance we come in order to follow Him. John baptized Jesus for the sake of our righteousness, to show us the way. He did not need to repent because He did not sin. It prepares us for baptism in His blood.
He has and is doing this through the Holy Spirit, from conception, to filling, to leading. This same Spirit is given to us, bringing us to life, filling us, and leading us to the eternal life of God. The testimony is the Spirit and we have that Spirit within ourselves. We become sons of God.
He brings us to the water of repentance, washes us clean with the blood of Christ, and brings us into all truth. We have Christ and life.
There are three that testify to the same truth. We only have to agree to walk with Him.
