Matthew 7:24-27 ESV
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Hearing the words of Jesus and agreeing with them is not enough. We must put them into practice in our life in order to enter the life of God.
It is the word mixed with faith that saves and something is required of us more than simply agreeing with God. We must be active in that word. The word is living and by living in the word we will not fall, but stand firm on the rock of our salvation. By renewing our mind with the word we begin transforming into the image of Christ.
This is our part of working out our salvation, in the becoming of who we are.
