1 John 2:15-17 ESV
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
Who or what is first in our life? It boils down to the choice between self and God. Do we give preference to our will or to the will of the Father?
Desire is not a bad thing by itself. It is the object and importance we place on a given desire that gives shape to our lives and defines who we are.
Desiring God and doing His will is the reason for desire. Understanding this is the key to receiving the desires of our heart. Seek Him first and all things will be added.
