Philippians 3:2-3 ESV
Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh—
The mark of our covenant with God is no longer in the flesh as it was in the Old Testament. It has been replaced with the covenant sign found in the inner man. The New Testament tells us of the Spirit of God is dwelling in each believer in Christ. This is the new mark of God's people. It no longer resides in flesh that withers and fades. It is by a spirit reborn that becomes one with Spirit of God and the fruit manifested by that relationship. The old mark gives way to the new.
Worship is no longer confined to a building or man made structure. It takes place in the heart of each worshipper brought into being by the hand of God. The Spirit makes this possible and it is in the Spirit we find our worship.
Romans 2:29
But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.
