The only way to choose between good and evil is to have knowledge of both. That was the purpose of the forbidden fruit in the Garden.
God provided a way for this choice to be ours. In this way we are able to be drawn to the light in in the midst of our darkness.
For God so loved the world that some would answer that love with love.
