With Great Compassion - Isaiah 54:5-8

Isaiah 54:5-8 ESV

For your Maker is your husband,
the Lord of hosts is his name;
and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer,
the God of the whole earth he is called.

For the Lord has called you
like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit,
like a wife of youth when she is cast off,
says your God.

For a brief moment I deserted you,
but with great compassion I will gather you.

In overflowing anger for a moment
I hid my face from you,
but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you,”
says the Lord, your Redeemer.

God the Father is the husband Who is the Redeemer for whom they wait. They are one, yet different persons of the Godhead.

Israel is the "wife" of God the Father. She was cast off in her disobedience, but will be redeemed by Holy One of Israel.

The Church is the Bride of Christ.

Israel is of the earth and serves as the living creatures that support the throne of God the Creator. Her inheritance is the promised land given to Abraham.

The Church dwells heaven and God is her inheritance. They wear the crowns of life and sit before the throne in heaven.

The two women depict different relationships with our God. The 144,000 taken from the tribes of Israel in Revelation sing a song that no one else can sing.

The Bride of Christ is a suitable companion, the Eve that becomes one with the second Adam and will rule with the King of Kings, at one with the Father and Son.
