If You Can!

Mark 9:23-24 ESV
23 And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

All things are possible for God. Believing God is placing our faith in Him. It does not mean we will be able to fly, make gold out of lead, or perform miracles. It means we believe in God Who is more than able to do those things.
We do nothing on our own. We are to ask and seek His will, laying our desires and petitions at His feet. When we are in full agreement with His will, we will ask and receive.
When Peter spoke against Jesus going to die on the cross, Jesus rebuked him strongly. It is not always plain to us why things happen as they do, but we place our faith in the Who does know and can do all things.

The same word for rebuke is used for the casting out of the unclean spirit of the son, that calmed the sea, and telling Peter to get behind Him.

he rebuked- ἐπιτιμάω * epitimaō * ep-ee-tee-mah'-o *  to tax upon, that is, censure or admonish; by implication forbid: - (straitly) charge, rebuke.
