Dull Of Hearing - Hebrews 5:11-14

Hebrews 5:11-14 ESV
"Warning Against Apostasy
About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil."

Hearing the word over and over without taking that word to heart and providing fertile ground for the word to take root and grow will cause that word to lose effect due to dullness of really hearing that word. Hearing the word includes its manifestation in the life of the believer.

We come to the Lord as a child, reborn into the life of God. We are to grow and bear fruit as branches attached to the vine of life. To do less is cause for pruning and runs the risk of being cut off.
