Looked Back - Genesis 19:26

Genesis 19:26 ESV

But Lot's wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

Luke 14:34-35 ESV

“Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Luke 17:32-33

Remember Lot's wife. Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will keep it.

We are to be the salt of the earth, the seasoning of that which is holy and offered to the Lord. Turning back to the world makes a follower of Christ unfit to be a disciple, as salt that has lost its taste and is no longer able to serve as an offering.

Lot's wife now serves as a warning to all those being saved. Salvation is a gift from God and is a gift to be continually received. Follow after Christ and He will lead you to the promised land. Don't turn back.
