Any Different Doctrine - 1 Timothy 1:3-7

1 Timothy 1:3-7 ESV

As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus so that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Certain persons, by swerving from these, have wandered away into vain discussion, desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make confident assertions.

The word has been given. Swerving and wandering is not compatible with the narrow and straight path to God. There is a plumb line for the Body of Christ which is the temple of the living God. It has been established in truth. Its light serves as a lamp to our feet as we travel in this wilderness of shadows.

A person can be confident, but not right and can teach without understanding. There is one way to have a right understanding.

A pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith will come from staying in the word. It will keep us at one with the word: Jesus Christ.
