John 20:6-7 ESV
Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.
The face cloth that was folded refers to a cloth that was used to wipe the perspiration from one's brow and to cover the face of the dead. This may signify the leaving His suffering and death behind. Grave clothes were no longer needed. The folding of the cloth and setting it aside by itself may remind us that Jesus is the firstborn and the head of the body of believers. Having overcome death, He does away with the veil of death and sets it aside with the full power and authority of the risen Son.
