The Last Hour - 1John 2:18-23

1 John 2:18-23 ESV
Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.

Christ had to come before there could be an antichrist. John tells us that many antichrists are among us. The tares are plentiful in and among the wheat. Satan has sown his seed in the fertile earth, where it finds root and home through deceit and lies.

John proclaims there is truth. Jesus is the Son of God. Satan will tell you otherwise.
There is no lie if there is no truth. There is one ultimate truth. Confessing that truth brings one into the presence of God.

The last hour has begun. We find ourselves in the pause before the wrath of God is released at the sound of a trumpet. Time has gone by as the harvest grows and matures. The season will not last forever.

John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Mark 13:22-23
For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand.
John 10:27-30
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.”
