When We Know Not

Romans 8:26-27 (NIV)
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

Romans 8:26-27 (MSG)
26 Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.
27 He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God.

When we don’t know what to say, when we don’t know what to ask for, when we don’t understand what is going on around us, the Spirit knows. He knows our heart completely, more than we are able. He knows our needs and the weakness that is ours.

The Spirit goes beyond just knowing, He does something on our behalf. He intercedes and speaks for us in way that we could not. We can be assured that the Spirit is able to speak for us on a heart and spirit level that is beyond our understanding or articulation.

How rich are the mercies and grace that God has given those who seek Him. How blessed are we to be called children of God! Truly in our weakness the love of God is revealed.
