On Our Way

Mark 10:51-52 (NIV)
51 "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
52 "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Mark 10:51-52 (MSG)
51 Jesus said, "What can I do for you?" The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
52 "On your way," said Jesus. "Your faith has saved and healed you." In that very instant he recovered his sight and followed Jesus down the road.

Jesus asks the question of all of us. He makes it possible for us to be healed. Peterson goes on to say in his translation(MSG) that Jesus healed and saved the man. This is a more complete expression of what the blind man received. We know that Jesus could do anything for the man, but He asked what the man desired. The blind man answers, ready to receive.

This story portrays the believing and trusting in Jesus that opens the eyes of us all to the kingdom of God. Our faith in His love and mercy given through His sacrifice heals us and allows us to follow Jesus along the road. We can see Him up ahead.

We are truly on our way.
