1 Corinthians 7:17-20 (NKJV)
17 But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all the churches.
18 Was anyone called while circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Was anyone called while uncircumcised? Let him not be circumcised.
19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.
20 Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called.
We are not required to respond to God in a particular way, but in our way. Paul tells us that we are unique expressions of God. We are all gifted in different ways. God sings through us in our individual voices. This is the wonder and glory of the body of Christ. Though our voices are distinct and our melodies may vary, we still join in the song of praise for God Almighty.
But we are required to keep the commandments of God; this is what matters. We are all the same in that regard. He is the common denominator, the unifying factor of all creation.
We are to live and obey God right where we are and with who we are. God has imparted His Spirit into ours hearts to do just that. Our paths may vary but the walk is the same because He is with us.
You call us to be children of light
Right where we are
That darkness would be exposed
And Your truth revealed for all that would see
