Be Like Him

1 John 3:1-3 (ESV Strong's)

1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

When He returns we shall see Him and ourselves as we truly are. This is why He came the first time, to plant the seed of His word in our hearts so that we would grow into Him. The love of the Father has now transformed us into His children and will continue this transformation until we are like Him. 

Our faith and hope in Jesus cleanse us from sin and secure our salvation. We become His children in the kingdom of heaven. It is through obedience to His word we will become like Him, into the maturity of Christ.
