Arise, Walk - Genesis 13:14-18

Genesis 13:14-18 ESV

The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,
for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever.
I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted.
Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.”
So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the Lord.

After Lot leaves, the Lord tells Abram to lift his eyes. This is different from when Lot lifted his eyes, for Abram lifted his eyes at direction of the Lord. Doing so, Abram views his inheritance from the Lord.

He walks the length and breadth of the land. Christians also walk in the land that will become the new earth in these mortal tents which will turn into immortal mansions in the city of God.

Then Abram moves his tent to this promised land where he will offer sacrifices to the Lord. He confirms his decision to live according to the word of God. In a sense, Abraham walks in the kingdom of heaven by entering and remaining in the promised land. We have entered the kingdom of heaven trusting in the promises of the Lord. What He has promised has already been given. We live because He lives.
