Genesis 15:1 ESV
After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.”
The word of the Lord comes to Abram. This is none other than Christ, who is the word of God. He is our shield and reward, the source of life.
Jesus would tell His disciples to "fear not." He is our strength and shield. There is no reason for fear.
He tells us the same thing He told Abram. He is with us and our reward is to come. He will bring it when He comes, for He is our very great reward. We will be like Him.
