Earnestly Desired - Luke 22:14-16

Luke 22:14-16 ESV
And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him. And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

The Passover was an event in history which foreshadowed another event, that of His suffering for you and me. It is this second event which fulfills the plan of God established from the beginning. The first Passover helps us to anticipate and understand the coming and purpose of Christ.

We recline at His table in communion as we share His cup and eat His bread of the kingdom of God.

He earnestly desires the final fulfillment of His kingdom. So do we.
