Matt. 27:29 and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
The crown of thorns may remind us of the curse on the earth as the result of Adam's sin. In pain and sorrow he would till the earth by the sweat of his brow. Christ took upon His head the crown of our judgement in exchange for the crown of life.
Calling Him the "King of the Jews", they inadvertently utter the truth the Jews would not accept. He is that and so much more.
