Gen. 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.
There is a symmetry, or connection, between the first and second Adam, the re-enforcement of repetition often found in Scripture to convey a truth of God.
The first Adam took the forbidden fruit from the hand of Eve. She was not left alone in her sin. He took it willingly. No words are recorded of Adam's reaction. He suffered the consequences with her.
The second Adam would not let man remain alone in our sin. He took it willingly, receiving the cup of judgement filled with the bitter fruit of disobedience. In silence He stood accused for us. He suffered the consequence of our sin, taking our burden of judgement from our hands willingly, bringing us back before the tree of life. We can choose its fruit if we like and we can eat.
